Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with more than one person at a time. Usually groups consists of 5-15 people and can provide support and treatment for a range of issues such as anger management, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, weight management issues and pain management.
At ATIVED, we offer several group that are ran quarterly and facilitated by a licensed clinician. All groups are held for 12 weeks with members attending once a week for a 2 hour or 2.5 hour time span. The groups are open which means new members can join within the first two weeks on a rolling basis. After the group has convened for two weeks, no new members will be allowed as much of the important rapport building and group cohesion would have begun.
To apply to join a group with ATIVED, simply schedule a prescreening appointment by pressing the “book an appointment” tab. Someone will contact you within 24 hours to complete your prescreening session and determine if group treatment is right for you.
Groups are proven to be a highly effective way of treating mental health disorders as well as supporting clients with building social skills, decreasing feelings of depression, anxiety and building self-worth. Group therapy gives you the opportunity to hear from others who have similar issues and gain knowledge from peers that will help you understand your problems better.
